First day at work..

Yesterday was my first day of my official first job... So far so good..Got to know lots of names and faces which i cant remember... And i am in HR loh.. ARGH!!! Got to know the overall picture of my job scope by observing my colleague, Julianne.. OMG, lots of things to do.. I can only copy and copy what to remember.. Got so tired that i went to bed straight after dinner..

Today is better.. Even got the chance to do hands-on for the recording of leave application in the files.. mad calculation.. :p Tomorrow need to record the leave application into the payroll system.. ahh.. plus got HR meeting.. Sighz.. better sleep liao..

    Very common experience. I remembered on my first day I was introduced to this colleague during an orientation walk round my office. Later at the end of the walk, I bumped into that colleague again and I self-introduce again. He said, "Just now introduce already leh". So malu!

  • Yeh, most people can't remember up to 75% of the names that were introduced to them on their 1st day of work. So you'll have to spend the next few days saying,"I'm sorry I didn't quite get your name that day. You are?"

  • Glad to hear that you are coping well with the new job.

    I carry a pen and pad on my first few days to write down people's name, a short description (e.g. yellow teeth fat bugger, super cute malay girl, or the Almighty Petty Cash Woman-God, etc..), I even did a simple sketch of some of them.

    Write little things to remember very quickly. Took me only a week to know all 200+ of them.

    And never ever let them see what you write on the pad. Or else sure die damn ugly one. hahahaah

  • No need to worry about names. You will remember them in time to come, and with a little effort. No one will fault you.

    It took me about one month to remember the names of my colleagues (more than 50).
